Harrison's essay

Introduction
Don't you wish sometimes you could change the ending of a book your reading. Maybe sometimes because you want it to be an ending with no loose ends or maybe you want it to have the possibility of a sequel. Sometimes someone dies and you cant possibly live thinking that this character is dead. Well thats what I'm doing I'm changing the end of The absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian.

In this version of the story instead of his sister dieing she is merely severely burned however her husband dies so she is forced to move back to the Spokane reserve. And that's where everything really goes down hill she is forced to stay in the absolute minimum Spokane hospital where her meals are about a five hundred calories a day of gray mush. The hospital also has a policy of one visitor a week so her family cant come see her often. The only thing she has is her pen and paper so she starts her romance novel of her tragic life. And then after four months of being alone with her thoughts and gray mush she sends it to a publisher.

One year later she has miraculously found a publisher after sending it off about twenty times and has already sold thousands of copies. On top of the fact that she has written an amazing book people love the face that its a true story. Although inspired Arnold feels left in her shadow and depressed. The fact that he had originally been a hero for his family for leaving the reservation and then everybody loves his sister now and he feels like no one cares what he does anymore. He is extremely depressed.

On top of his problems at home his part time girlfriend left him for his friend Gordy. His basket ball career has gone down the drain due to a severe Achilles tendon injury. The only thing he has now is the chance at an academical scholarship which on the reservation is practically unheard of. His dream is a ridiculous one which opens up the opportunity for a second book. If i wrote the second book I would put different thing such as Arnold's struggle to be the first Indian valedictorian of reardan high school. Also there would be tragedies such as his sister dying from a crazed fan somewhat like John Lennon. This may seem like a tragedy at first but it is an extremely good way to go ,rather than dieing cause you were to drunk to wake up.

In the end Arnold would succeed and go to artist school and become a very talented cartoonist. He would make many cartoons in his books mostly about a hilarious Indian named Fred. He would use many of his childhood experiences to make cartoons and many Indians could relate to them. His sister would go down in history and become very famous she would encourage many people to get off the reservation and live out there dreams.
